Copper futures up on spot demand

Monday, July 17, 2017

Amid a firming trend at the domestic spot markets on pick up in spot demand, copper prices moved up by 0.46 per cent to Rs 385.40 per kg in futures trade today as participants built-up fresh positions. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in August rose by Rs 1.75, or 0.46 per cent, to Rs 385.40 per kg, in a business volume of 1,022 lots.

Metal for delivery in far-month November too gained Rs 1.60, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 391.60 per kg, in a business turnover of 22 lots. Marketmen attributed the rise in copper futures to a firming trend in base metals at the domestic spot markets, supported by an improved demand from consuming industries.
